Philip Satorius was born in Gemersheim in 1831. He immigrated to the United States, where he served in the confederate army, and died in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1913. His wife was Sophie Rose (Roos) (1835-1910). Their son, Assar Satorius (1862-1938) served as the president of the Amaranth Club, Jewish social club in Vicksburg.
